An Inclusion/Icebreaker Activity That Checks In With Your Team (With Some Help From Our Furry Friends)

When I’m planning meetings, I’m constantly searching for impactful icebreakers and inclusion activities.

For my upcoming leadership meeting, the icebreaker is a temperature check. It’s the first leadership meeting for our new team and I’m curious about how my colleagues are feeling in this current moment.

Nothing takes the temperature like a “how are we feeling” question.

At last week’s full staff meeting, the inclusion activity determined that the majority of staff members prefer dogs as a pet choice. Building from that knowledge, it seemed only appropriate to follow-up with a series of different emotions portrayed by our furry friends.

The hope is that the variety of pictures will create connection and a sense of safety to articulate how people are feeling. The first step of taking the temperature of where the team is at with their current working situations.
